HHbM is truly so much more than a gym. When you see reviews that say Marisa changed their life… they mean it! Marisa has changed my outlook on fitness for the better. I used to use the gym as punishment to my body for looking the way I did. Now my mindset has completely shifted thanks to Marisa. There are a few times in life when a chance opportunity and a willingness to try something new lead to something awesome. Such a time came for me on a Saturday morning after my routine chain club workout when a few friends said, “we're going to checkout a Step Aerobics class with a great trainer and a live DJ”. That was the morning I met Marisa Mancke and her Happy Hour by Marisa brand of over the top, no-holes barred, hyper-fun fitness classes. I never would have met her if I hadn’t taken the chance to invest an hour on an unknown.

I had plateaued on my fitness journey and was getting bored with the franchise health club routine. That was nearly 16 years ago. That was 16 half-marathons and one full marathon ago. Marisa and the community she has created changed my life! Immediately when I walked into the gym over 6 years ago, I was greeted by the kindest and most encouraging people. There is a variety of ages, bodies and abilities. I was so afraid of weights when I first came, but Marisa taught me great form, mindset and modifications. Most of my adult life I’ve had a hate-hate relationship with gyms. I’d join, never go, then quit and still feel terrible about myself. Happy Hour by Marisa changed all of that. Marisa has created a community that embodies support, camaraderie, friendship, fun, happiness, mental health, and fitness all in one. I can’t begin to say enough amazing things about Happy Hour by Marisa! This fitness studio is the best place by far in the greater Seattle area and the Eastside! This is solely attributed to Marisa Mancke the owner of HHBM and trainer of her clients!

I began my fitness journey at HHBM when it first opened over 12 years ago. Since then, I have attended countless group fitness classes all of which Marisa creates and teaches on a daily basis! Marisa’s tireless energy and dedication to each and every person that comes to train with her is nothing short of miraculous! Every single time I have come to her gym she greets me with words of encouragement and helps me to feel good about coming to work out. No matter how my day is going, Marisa meets me where I am both physically and mentally and helps me to succeed. I leave the gym with way more energy and confidence in what I have accomplished during my work out. I am empowered to keep going and to physically challenge myself because I can feel and see results! I am stronger and I look and feel amazing thanks to her techniques and training. BTW it’s never the same and never boring!! Marisa actually makes working out fun (even though we’re working our butts off) there is always joy in the room created by her exuberant personality.

Even though I have moved out of state, thanks to Marisa’s online classes, I am still able to join her classes virtually. Marisa still greets everyone who is there in person and does the same to each person online. She knows everyone’s names and makes us all feel part of this team and if you’re new to HHBM she is welcoming and considerate and again meets you where you are on your fitness journey. The bottom line is if you train with Marisa you will get in great physical shape and you will improve your mental health as well because you will be surrounded by a community of people that Marisa has empowered to be their best selves!

JUST-SHOW-UP Those were the 3 key words I heard from Marisa when I reached out to join HHbM September 2022.  At that time, I was feeling down and out about my health and well-being. I was 61 years old, more than 100 lbs. overweight, and quickly becoming less and less mobile. I knew I needed to make big changes, but knew I was good at joining but better at quitting. That was more than 2 and a half years ago! Today I have lost (and kept off) more than 100 lbs., and have dramatically increased mobility, strength and balance.  I attend class 2 times a week. There are days I push to my limits and other days I just dance it out- but I SHOW UP.  The physical changes are wonderful, but what keeps me showing up week after week is the community that is HHbM, the other members, who welcome and support me, that have celebrated my successes and encouraged me every step of the way. At almost 65 years old my world has changed given the newfound strength, flexibility and balance. I live an active life, filled with gratitude for each day.

A friend of mine invited me to join her for a bootcamp workout in March of 2023. I had never really enjoyed working out, but I relented and went with her, thinking it would be a one-time visit. Boy was I wrong!! I fell in love with Marisa's workouts immediately that day and had signed up for more by the time I left. I have now been going to HHbM for over 2 years and am blessed to have been introduced to Marisa as a trainer and as a person. The best thing about Marisa's workouts is that I never feel guilty if I can't give my all on some days. In fact, she is just as encouraging when I can't! 100% looks different every day. I have had personal trainers who were downright mean and pushed me beyond my limits, even if it wasn't good for my body or mental health. I have never felt like that with Marisa; I have my own personal cheerleader in her every time I step into her gym. Everyone who attends her workouts are a team and we support one another in the gym and out of it. I love that each workout is different and incorporates a multitude of exercises; it's always a full body workout so you are giving every part of your body some love. I also love that there are options for each exercise and that I can modify whenever I want/need. Marisa makes sure that your form is correct, so you don’t hurt yourself; that was something I sorely needed as a "newbie" working out. I feel more confident than I ever have, thanks to the workouts I do each week and having Marisa's support. I never thought I could be this strong and ENJOY working out!! I joined Marisa's gym at the beginning of 2024. At the time, my goal was to lose weight from what I had gained during the covid lockdowns. I've now been a member for nearly a year and a half. On top of getting into better shape, and the incredibly versatile workouts that she provides, I feel a sense of community and belonging at her place which has been so encouraging and uplifting. She recognizes everyone's fitness is at different levels, so there is not a 'one size' fits all mentality at her gym. For every workout, she shows us a variety of modifications and encourages the group to pick what works best for them, yet at the same time wants people to challenge themselves if they are up for it.

She is incredibly adaptable as well; you want to switch classes? No problem – she'll make it happen. You're running late? Do you need to leave early? Again, no problem. She will welcome and say goodbye to you with a big smile. You can tell she truly wants you to show up.

One thing about Marisa that everyone should know is that she genuinely cares about your well-being. She is personable, non-judgmental, a fantastic teacher and truly a master at her craft. Along with having such a welcoming and inviting gym, she is a true professional and expert in wellness – not only in the physical sense, but mentally too – she radiates positivity and empowers you. Most recently, I participated in her “Change Your Life Challenge” at the end of January. I have been going to HHbM for about 6 months now and I absolutely am in love with everything about Marisa, the community she’s created and my workouts at her gym. I did a ton of research before deciding on HHbM and it was the best decision hands down.  I was quite happy with another gym I belonged to, however a change in my lifestyle and responsibilities changed and it was no longer a good fit for me. Since joining HHbM I’ve become stronger, remained extremely consistent, gained confidence, lost weight and have made friends that are part of the community she’s created. Additionally, my life is constantly changing and I find myself away from my home frequently and I love I can join her virtual sessions and it feels like I’m amongst my workout buddies and at the gym. Marisa truly cares - one element of fitness I never truly grasped was the element of self care, with Marissa’s help and motivation this has been a game changer for me. It’s helped me not only drop 20 plus pounds, but improve my health significantly. At almost 65 years of ago, I’m the strongest, fittest and most confident version of myself. The fitness industry can be confusing and deceptive, but Marisa, the members and the health atmosphere at HHbM she’s created is truly a rare find.

HHbM was the first gym I attended on a consistent basis, mostly due to Marisa's energy. She knows how to get the most out of you if you have limitations or something just hurts that day. I was bummed when I moved out of state, but now she has live virtual classes that I love, and tons of recorded classes I can do anytime. Plus, she creates such an amazing community.
